Blood & Tissue Samples
We recommend blood samples are taken in all studies to allow pharmacodynamic effects to be related to drug exposure in blood or plasma.
Capillary microsampling is used for the well documented scientific and animal welfare benefits that this technique brings.
Sampling of other body fluids (e.g. urine) is possible in anaesthetised studies for biomarker assessment. Blood and tissue samples can also be taken at the end of studies for potential biochemical or histopathological analysis, thereby maximising the amount of useful data obtained. We also have a bank of tissue and blood/plasma, which may be used as control material.
